About Carol

First things first.

The
most important thing to say is that I am a follower of Jesus Christ, forgiven and reconciled to God because I believe that Jesus, God in the flesh, cleansed me and took away my sin when He died, and that He rose again from the dead three days later.  And because He is alive, I have the sure hope of resurrection someday, to be forever with the Lord.  My aim is that my joy not be tied to temporary things, by instead that it be anchored to my redemption and glorious hope in Jesus.

The second most important thing to say is that I speak, sing, and write to give testimony to God's glory and excellence, not mine.  If anything in my life has turned out well, it's all because of His grace, His power, and His Word.  My greatest joy is to point people to Jesus, so they can know and trust Him!

On a personal note,

I've been following Jesus personally since I was eight years old.  I grew up with parents who knew Jesus, too, and I don't remember there being a time where I didn't know about Jesus Christ.  Though I wasn't homeschooled, my parents did have somewhat of a homeschool mindset long before homeschooling really revived in this country.  Rather than keeping us in the dark about things, they felt we should hear both sides of issues.  We learned about creation science at home to balance the evolutionary perspective we got in school.  Before we ever heard the term 'world views', my daddy was talking about them and contrasting capitalism and communism at the supper table.

My dear Dad

Dad's philosophy was, "Somebody's going to influence my children, and it might as well be me!"  He said, "It's a battle out there for your kids, and if you don't influence them, somebody else will!"  He believed you don't wait for your children to be influenced or shipwrecked by somebody else's agenda first and then desperately try to 'fix' them. You be the one to shape them first.

I've been married thirty-five years to the best man for me.  After six years as a medical technologist and a medical researcher, I 'retired' to take up the new calling of Mama--which is what I had always wanted to be, thanks to the delight my own mama demonstrated over her role--and never looked back.  Yes, my name is out there somewhere on some articles in neurology and immunology journals, but, for me, nothing compares to the satisfaction of spending these years pouring into the lives of three children.  My life at home has been the farthest thing from wasting away that I could imagine; nothing else has ever challenged my creativity, my problem solving skills, my intellect, and my determination like being a mother and home educator.

I will say, too, that all those chemistry, biology, math, and speech classes in my college education have not only not been wasted, but they made ideal preparation, in God's plan, for marrying and relating to my chemist husband, as well as equipping me for teaching our children, understanding their health needs, and understanding the world we live in and are called to steward.

We are grateful to the Lord for three delightful and deep thinking children (two biological and one adopted at thirteen), as well as an equally wonderful son-in-law, who know and love Jesus and are passionate about things of eternal value.  I wouldn't trade that for anything.  Along our sixteen year homeschooling journey, we moved twice and adopted once (yes, a non-English-speaking thirteen-year-old from Ukraine) and found that God is ever faithful to direct and provide, no matter how unique the needs.

My passion is using creative means to encourage anybody and everybody I can.  You'll find me continuously pointing to our Heavenly Father--who is faithful though we are flawed, strong and able though we are weak, and lavishly loving even when we are unlovable.  He rescued us simply because He delights in us.

My God, in whom I delight, is the source of my joy and hope!  I live to share that hope!

For Him,

Carol
